We are delighted to welcome RAF Navigator and historian, Baz Hamblin, as our guest speaker for a fascinating talk commemorating 80 years since Victory in Europe Day.
VE Day marked the formal surrender of Nazi Germany to the Allied forces – The British Empire, United States, USSR, and Free French Army – on 8th May 1945, following a long and hard-fought campaign across North Africa, Italy, and Europe. Baz will guide us through the key events that led to this pivotal moment in history and reflect on the immense global impact of the Second World War’s conclusion.
Following Baz’s talk, Club Member Margaret Chittock will share her personal memories of VE Day as a young girl.
An optional brunch will be served around 12:15pm.
