Chris Booy, Bristol Bears Chairman
Chairman of the Bristol Bears, Chris Booy was born with an innate passion for rugby and a mind for business. Growing up in Bristol and graduating with a degree in Quantity Surveying, obtained from Bristol Polytechnic, Chris started his early career building the Symonds Group into one of the most successful construction consultancy businesses in the UK, until selling it to the Capita Group in early 2004. His success in the business world played a key role in rebranding the Bristol Rugby Club to the Bristol Bears in 2018, a move that injected new energy and excitement into the team and it’s fan base. The transformation wasn’t limited to just the name; it was a complete cultural shift that aimed for excellence both on and off the pitch. Chris Booy’s impact on Bristol Bears and the wider rugby community extends far beyond the realm of sports. As Chairman of Bristol Bears, Chris Booy’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations of rugby enthusiasts and sports
David Mace, Managing Director of Baylis Estates
David Mace, the accomplished Managing Director at Baylis Estates. Armed with a bachelor’s degree in real estate from Bristol UWE, David began his professional career back in the late 1970’s as a Chartered Surveyor with Osmond Tricks specialising in commercial agency and development and his journey in the realm of property has been nothing short of remarkable. He successfully negotiated a number of corporate deals which led him to head up the Bristol Offices of some of the leading practices in the South West including Pepper Fox, GVA Grimley and Avison Young. Throughout this time one of his most valued clients was the late Jack Baylis and it is fitting that David subsequently took responsibility for its extensive property portfolio and development activities. David’s unwavering passion for property development coupled with a keen business acumen, has propelled his career to remarkable heights, steering the course of some of the most significant projects in the Bristol area. Baylis Estates has been involved in the development of nearly 2 million square feet of retail, leisure, office, warehousing, and motor trade ventures. Notable among these is the prestigious ‘The Mall’ Shopping Centre and ‘The Venue Leisure Park’ at Cribbs Causeway, celebrated as premier retail and leisure destinations in the South West. With a wealth of experience, David Mace has been instrumental in making Baylis Estates one of the leading and most respected names in Bristol’s property landscape and has also left an indelible, positive impact on the local community and the real estate market as a whole.
