Clifton Club Business Networking Club – “On The Sofa” Round 5

Tuesday 22nd November, 2022 6.30pm onwards

We arevery pleased to invite you and a guest to the fifth in the series of our “On The Sofa” interviews of Clifton Club members.

Tabled as a networking event this will be an opportunity for you to meet and engage with your fellow Clifton Club members whilst learning more about members interesting careers and life experiences.

This exceptionally successful Business Networking Club has became a part of The Clifton Club fabric, bringing together our “working” members regularly to network and grow mutually beneficial relationships. So far, our 2022 “on the sofas” have featured Clifton Club members John Laycock, Nick Pugh, Stephanie Wheen, Ashley Leon, Jerry Barnes, Mark Mason, Carolyn Doherty and Chris Hunt who have shared their life and career experiences to date.

The format is simple; on arrival you will receive a complimentary glass of wine before moving into the dining room where we will have two Clifton Club members “on the sofa” who will be interviewed by past Chairman Mike Beesley. Taking no longer than an hour you will be given the opportunity to ask questions before retiring to the bar for refreshments and a complimentary buffet.

Two more current Clifton Club Members have agreed take part and share with us their life and career experiences this month;

Charles Cook

Charles is the managing partner and founder of Cook Corporate and specialises in corporate law.

Charles has very strong links in both the investor and business community and has a particular reputation as one of the leading “deal makers” in the region. Charles has extensive experience of working with private companies, public companies, financial institutions, partnerships, private individuals and entrepreneurs.

Charles trained at City firm Laytons and then qualified into the corporate department. He worked at regional firm Thrings as an Associate before leaving to set up Cook & Co Solicitors in 2008. He sold Cook & Co to the management team in 2018 and founded Cook Corporate choosing to focus purely on his corporate client practice.

Mr Stephen Davies

Stephen is self-employed, working in the UK Property Industry. He is also a Director on a number of other UK companies with different objectives, primarily Padmanor Investments Limited, Brechin Holdings Limited, Stripecross Limited & Lindmead Holdings Limited.

Overall Stephen, looks after around 25 companies at Director level and is regularly involved with sourcing new acquisitions, negotiating purchases & sales, lease extensions, commercial rent reviews, planning permissions, managing & letting agents, appointing and liaising with Solicitors, Accountants, Contractors, Surveyors and Estate Agents.

Stephen is also not scared of a challenge, having taken part in an Arctic Expedition to walk across Baffin Island, northern Canada and an expedition to Magnetic North.
