2-4pm, £20 per person
Held at Bristol Real Tennis, Clifton College Playing Fields, Abbots Leigh
Members will receive a full introduction to the oldest named ball game and the Great Grandparent of all other racquet sports in this exclusive taster day. Real Tennis was already hundreds of years old when such luminaries as Shakespeare, Galileo, Erasmus and Montaigne wrote about it. It has the oldest World Championship of any sport (1740) and the most difficult racquet game to master.
The session will be taken by one of the club’s Professionals and most of the players’ time will be spent on court, getting to grips with the game and the scoring. Participants should wear any comfortable sports clothes and indoor sports shoes. Racquets (wooden and asymmetrical) and balls (handmade) will be provided.
