About Sir John Royce: Club Member Sir John Royce read law at Cambridge and became a solicitor in London. While changing to the Bar, he became an Austrian Qualified Ski Instructor, and moved to Guildhall Chambers in Bristol in 1970. In 2002 he was High Court Judge, and presiding Judge of the Western Circuit, and tried mainly murders and very serious sex offences.
